Jane Lady Family Jazz Education Scholarship

Scholarship Announcement

We announced at our November concert the recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Jazz Society – the “Jane Lady Family Jazz Education Scholarship” – in honor OF Jane Jady, former Jazz Society President and mother of Doug Lady, founder of the Jazz Society.

The recipient of the $750 scholarship is Victor Garcia. Victor is a sophomore music major at Illinois Central College, where he plays lead alto in the ICC Hard Bop Jazz Band. He studies privately with Larry Harms and is sound engineer for the ICC Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Victor is a graduate of Richwoods High School in Peoria. In addition to school, Victor also has a full-time job at Panda Express restaurant.

Thanks to Larry Harms for his help with the scholarship process and all that he does for young musicians and the Jazz Society. Thanks to the Jazz Society members – you help support this effort.
